Independent Artists 2026: Who's Breaking

Independent artists 2026: a list of the best independent artists breaking without a major label, from Indian rappers and bands to global names to watch.

An independent artist releases music without a major label (Universal, Sony, Warner) owning the master. In 2026 that covers self-releasers, artists on indie labels, and acts with distribution deals that leave rights with them. This list picks the independent artists of 2026 worth your time, with the deepest section on India, which is where we report from.
