Raar is two minutes and forty-six seconds of Hindi Pop from an artist Apple Music still files, elsewhere in the catalogue, under Worldwide and New Age. Fresh Finds India put it at No. 8 on 15 October 2026. That is not only a discovery bump. It is a genre switch on a list that invents careers, and the credit sheet refuses to make the switch clean.

Why this single matters this week

Fresh Finds India remains a gate, as we argued in Spotify's Indian indie gatekeepers. This week's upper half has already rewarded first drops and remakes we have reviewed: Somebody to Love, Seedhi Saadhi, Do Pal, Longer Way Back Home. Raar sits at No. 8 for a different reason. It is short, Hindi, Pop-tagged, solo-billed — and it arrives from a catalogue that spent years sounding classical-adjacent and chill, not playlist Pop.

Twenty-two days from the 23 September store date to our 15 October checks is mid-pack for this list, not launch-week theatre. The song held No. 8 from our afternoon ledger through the evening live re-check. It was absent from Rock in India in the same windows. Discovery lane, not rock certification.

The Pop tag sits on an older palette

Apple Music's Indian store tags Raar as Pop. The same store tags Dekho Sakhi and Shivmay as Worldwide, Dust Puppets as New Age, and the N.O.T Playing feature Raag Arambol as Downtempo. The artist's Apple primary genre is still Worldwide. Fresh Finds did not pick the New Age single from March. It picked the September Pop single. That is an editorial choice with real consequences: Pop is the shelf the feed understands; Worldwide and New Age are where this artist had been filing the work.

What the Pop tag drops is the quiet branding of the earlier lane — the chill, classical-tinged framing his own Spotify bio still leans on when it talks about "indian classical elegance and contemporary expression" and "Pop and chill." What it keeps is audible in the credit sheet more than in the genre string. Shubham Bharti sings, co-composes and co-writes. Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan is billed as Composer and Lyrics on Apple Music. Franco Bhalla produces. Sameer's Tape assists on programming. The tile says one name. The paperwork still names a classical composer and a producer who is not the artist.

The Ustad on the credit sheet

Apple Music's song credits for Raar list Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan as Composer and Lyrics alongside Shubham Bharti. JioSaavn's public song page lists the same two names under Music and Lyricist. That agreement matters because store metadata often disagrees; here the composition credit is consistent on both platforms we checked.

We will not invent a living collaboration. Public obituaries and reference records place Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan's death on 18 February 2016 in Kolkata, at 107 — a Padma Bhushan vocalist, long associated with the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, distinct from the later Ustad Rashid Khan who died in 2024. A 2026 single that still bills him as Composer and Lyrics is therefore an archival or estate credit on the release sheet, not a session we can narrate. The stores do not publish how the credit was cleared. We report what they bill: his name sits on the composition and lyrics line of a Fresh Finds Pop single a decade after his death. That is the classical residue the Pop tag cannot erase.

What the preview actually does

At 2:46, Raar sits under the Fresh Finds India median of 3:15 we measured in Indian indie song length. It is shorter than Do Pal and well inside the list's short-song cohort. Our 30-second store previews put Apple Music around −9.2 LUFS integrated with a loudness range near 2.5 LU, and Spotify quieter at about −13.9 LUFS with a tighter range near 0.9 LU. Onset analysis on the Apple preview estimates about 94 BPM. Roughly 64 percent of the spectral energy in that preview sits below 2 kHz: a mid-tempo, voice-forward band, not a bright dance crush.

A preview is not a full mix critique. It is enough to say the single is built for the thirty-second gate and does not sound accidentally quiet or accidentally harsh. The closed loudness range on the Spotify preview suggests a controlled, compressed presentation aimed at phones.

Solo tile, open credit sheet

Spotify and Apple Music bill only Shubham Bharti as the artist. That puts Raar in the person-led majority we mapped when Indian indie bands lost Fresh Finds, and among the solo counterexamples we noted in Indian indie collabs. Unlike Longer Way Back Home, where the Apple credit sheet was almost entirely one name, Raar's sheet opens outward: a producer (Franco Bhalla), an assistant programmer (Sameer's Tape), and a co-composer / co-lyricist credit for Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan. The tile is solo. The labour is not.

The ℗ line is clean. Apple Music's album page and our Spotify ledger both read ℗ 2026 Shubham Bharti. As we laid out in who owns Indian indie music masters, a ℗ line is a public claim, not a contract we can read — here, self-release under the artist's own name, matching Dekho Sakhi, Shivmay and Dust Puppets.

Who Shubham Bharti is on this record

Stick to stores and the artist's own channels. Apple Music lists the solo singles above plus the 2020 feature on N.O.T Playing. The Spotify bio, in the artist's own words, claims Saharanpur roots, a Mumbai home, multi-instrument work, a 2020 debut with Dekho Sakhi, and a current turn toward Pop and chill. Monthly listeners sat near 2.1K on 15 October 2026 — a smaller room than several tiles above Raar on the same Fresh Finds page. There is no substantial English-language press archive for Raar that we could find in Homegrown, Rolling Stone India or peer desks. We do not invent one. The playlist is doing the introduction.

Verdict

Raar is the Pop single Fresh Finds India chose to carry from a catalogue that had been living on Worldwide and New Age shelves. Its strength is the honest friction: a 2:46 Hindi Pop cut, self-released under ℗ 2026 Shubham Bharti, that still bills Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan on composition and lyrics and still names Franco Bhalla as producer. Its weakness is how little public craft story surrounds that credit sheet — no press, a modest listener base, and a genre tag that can make the classical name look like metadata instead of argument. Holding No. 8 on 15 October 2026 is a real gate opening. The next single should tell us whether Pop was a one-off pitch or the new filing system for an artist who has always kept classical residue close.

FAQ

Who sings Raar?

Shubham Bharti, the only artist billed on Spotify and Apple Music. Apple Music credits him as Playback Singer, Composer and Lyrics. It is a solo-billed release, not a featured collab on the tile.

When was Raar released?

23 September 2026 on Apple Music and Spotify (Raar – Single, one track, 2:46, ℗ 2026 Shubham Bharti).

Is Raar on Fresh Finds India?

Yes. It was No. 8 on Fresh Finds India at our 7:26 PM IST desk snapshot on 15 October 2026 and again on a live playlist re-check about 8:28 PM IST the same evening. It was not on Rock in India in those checks.

Who produced Raar?

Apple Music credits Franco Bhalla as Producer and Sameer's Tape as Assistant Programming. Shubham Bharti is credited as Playback Singer, Composer and Lyrics. Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan is also credited as Composer and Lyrics.

Why is Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan credited on a 2026 single?

Apple Music and JioSaavn both bill him on the composition / lyrics side of Raar. Public records place his death on 18 February 2016. We treat the 2026 credit as archival naming on the release sheet and do not invent a living session or an estate narrative the stores do not publish.
