Garvit-Priyansh have two songs on Spotify's RADAR India playlist tonight, and one of them is near the very top. At our snapshot at 7:16 PM IST on 21 October 2026, Kaahe Mose was No. 3 on RADAR India and No. 9 on Indie India, and Theher Ja was No. 16 on RADAR India. The two singles came out in October and December 2025, so neither is new, which makes the placings more interesting.
The duo is Garvit Soni and Priyansh Srivastava. They have been releasing music together since 2022, mostly on T-Series. This year they have had an Arijit Singh endorsement, a city tour and songs in a Netflix series. They did not appear in our list of the best Indian independent artists of 2026, and they should have been on the longlist. Here is the case, along with the one thing I would change.
Garvit-Priyansh at a glance
- Garvit Soni: singer, composer and producer; studied Music and Economics at MSU (Gaana/Mirchi, April 2026)
- Priyansh Srivastava: singer, composer and lyricist; was studying Mechanical Engineering in Germany when the duo began (Gaana/Mirchi); holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Indian classical music (The Pioneer, April 2024)
- First duo original: Sanware, 12 January 2022, recorded over Zoom
- Debut EP: Lafz, 9 April 2024, four songs, ℗ 2024 Super Cassettes Industries (T-Series)
- Breakout single: Kaahe Mose, 15 October 2025, ℗ 2025 Super Cassettes Industries
- Recent: five songs on Musafir Cafe (Songs from the Netflix Series), July 2026; Humdum Mere, 14 October 2026
- On RADAR India at 7:16 PM IST, 21 October 2026: Kaahe Mose No. 3, Theher Ja No. 16
A reel, then a Zoom session
The duo's origin story is very much of its time. "In October 2021, I came across a reel of Garvit and reached out to him because I genuinely loved his singing and production," Priyansh told Gaana's Meera Venugopal in April 2026. Instagram had just added a two-screen collab feature, so they made a cover together. Neither of them now remembers for certain whether it was "Sapnon Se Bhare Naina" or "Tere Naina". The cover did well, and they followed it with an original, Sanware. "We made 'Sanware' on Zoom because we were in different countries," Priyansh said. Garvit was in India, and Priyansh was in Germany.
Then they moved in together. "Moving to Mumbai together in 2022 gave them the chance to build a studio," The New Indian Express reported in July 2026. Garvit called that the turning point: "When you actually live together, you make songs together every day and learn a lot."
What sets them apart from a lot of Instagram-born acts is the training. Garvit told The Pioneer in 2024 that both have "a strong foundation in Indian classical music", and that Priyansh had completed both a bachelor's and a master's in the field. "We both have a strong passion for Indian classical music and take great pleasure in writing and performing ragas." You can hear it in the melodies, even where the production is plainly pop.
Kaahe Mose, the song that broke through
Kaahe Mose began, as Garvit tells it, with a melody he "produced, recorded and sent to Priyansh". Priyansh wrote the words while driving and "wanted the words 'Kaahe Mose' in it and the Braj Bhasha Hindi in the song". They kept the first draft. The official T-Series video lists Garvit Soni as producer and Priyansh Srivastava as lyricist, with guitars by Lucky Sharma and zitar by Mehtab Ali Niazi. It had 4,133,772 views when I checked this evening.
Then Arijit Singh sang it live. Both men describe the moment the same way: Priyansh saw two or three missed calls from Garvit, was told to look at his Instagram story, and "we both could not contain our tears". In the MusiCulture Q&A the duo said it came "right before our India tour". I take the endorsement seriously less because of who gave it than because it was unsolicited. Arijit did not need a Garvit-Priyansh song in his set.
Apple Music's 30-second preview, which I ran through a level and frequency meter, shows the song's shape. The verse moves around a lot, with a range of about 12 dB from second to second. Then the last six seconds of the clip jump to a steady level roughly 6 dB above the verse, with plenty of low end, about 28 percent of the preview's energy below 120 Hz. A preview is only a slice. But it is a slice that builds to a hook and then holds it.
Theher Ja, and why they recommend it first
Asked by The New Indian Express which song a first-time listener should hear, both picked Theher Ja. "Taaki woh log bhi thair jaaye humare paas," they said, so that listeners stay a while. Aniket Shukla and Priyansh wrote the lyrics, and Garvit produced, mixed and co-mastered it with Lucky Sharma, according to the official video's credits.
They are right to lead with it. On the same meter, the Theher Ja preview has almost no bass, about 2 percent of its energy below 120 Hz against Kaahe Mose's 28. Over the clip the level breathes in and out by about 9 dB. The two voices and Lucky Sharma's guitar carry it. For a duo whose pitch is classical training, a song that leaves the voices this exposed is the better advert. For comparison, the 2022 Sanware preview sits within about 3 dB the whole way through, which is a flatter, more compressed shape. Theher Ja shows how far they have moved from that.
Is a T-Series duo indie?
Here is the footnote. Every Garvit-Priyansh release I checked from Lafz onward, including Kaahe Mose, Theher Ja and Humdum Mere, carries a ℗ line for Super Cassettes Industries, the company behind T-Series. The Musafir Cafe songs are ℗ Netflix Music under exclusive license to T-Series. Priyansh told Times Now in 2024 that "releasing a debut EP with T-Series is a dream come true". In April 2026 he told Gaana that they are "working with T-Series on many briefs".
So this is not independent in the ownership sense, and we have written about who ends up owning Indian indie masters. What is independent is the making. Garvit produces, mixes and masters in their own studio, and the songs start as melodies the two of them swap. "Our sound can loosely be described as Classical-pop fusion but we don't chase trends," they told MusiCulture. RADAR India and Indie India both file them as indie anyway, which tells you how Spotify's playlists act as gatekeepers for a sound more than for a business model.
Collaborators, tour, Netflix
The duo work with a small circle. Aniket Shukla co-wrote Theher Ja and is credited alongside them on Rang and Saawan Bhi Thehra. Hansika Pareek, whom we reviewed for Aaja Re Piya, sings on Tu Sab Vekheya (2025) and on Tera Hua Sahiba from Musafir Cafe. Jonita Gandhi sings with them on that series' Kaafi Hai Na, which is the top track on their Spotify artist page tonight.
The Kaahe Mose India Tour took them to Hyderabad for the first time. "We received a lot of requests on Instagram and really wanted to add a couple of cities in South India," Priyansh told The New Indian Express. If you are curious about the economics of that kind of run, our piece on indie gigs, venues and permits in India covers what the rooms look like.
What comes next, they say, is a first full album. The New Indian Express reported in July that it was "in the works". After four years of singles and one EP, that is the record I want. I hope it sounds more like Theher Ja than the last six seconds of Kaahe Mose.
