Arijit Singh

Arijit Singh is a singer, composer and music producer born in 1987 in Jiaganj, West Bengal. Critics regard him as one of the most influential and commercially successful voices in Indian music, and he is known for an emotive vocal style that works across many genres.

He first came to attention in 2005 as a contestant on the reality show Fame Gurukul. He then worked as a music programmer and assistant for composers including Pritam, Mithoon, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Vishal-Shekhar before making his Hindi film playback debut with Phir Mohabbat in 2011. His wider breakthrough came in 2013 with Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2, which won him his first Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer. His eighth Filmfare win, for Sajni in 2025, tied Kishore Kumar's record in that category. He has also won two National Film Awards and was given the Padma Shri in 2025. Most of the releases credited to him on MusicBrainz are compilations of his film songs. His own work includes the soundtrack album for Laila Majnu (2018).
