The best Indian indie songs of 2024 came from everywhere at once. A Kerala-born rapper had a single that travelled far beyond India. A Delhi metal band announced a new era with one track. Anuv Jain released a love song that became the year's quiet anthem, and a Kashmiri singer previewed a fourteen-track album with "Sajde". This list picks 20 songs released in 2024 by Indian independent artists, with the record each one lives on.

How we chose. Released in 2024 according to Apple Music India (checked 28 October 2026). Independent artists or independent-minded releases. One song per act (Karan Aujla appears once solo and once on a joint album with DIVINE). We don't print lyrics; we tell you where each song comes from and why it matters. They are in release order, not ranked. For later years, see the best Indian indie songs of 2025 and 2026.

What the 2024 songs have in common

Most of these songs belong to albums or EPs, not stand-alone singles, which is a change from the singles-only habits of the early streaming years. Rap had its biggest year abroad, with "Big Dawgs" leading. And the love songs that lasted, "Jo Tum Mere Ho" and "Sui Dhaage", were the quietest ones: no drops, no big choruses, just a voice close to the microphone.
