Buying used LPs: quick checks
- Hold the record to the light and look for scratches you can feel with a fingernail.
- Check for warping by laying it flat on the turntable.
- For old HMV/EMI India pressings, check the label variant and the matrix number before paying collector prices.
- Ask to play it before you buy. Good stores will let you.
