Taba Chake is a fingerstyle guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter from Khunglo village in the Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh. He was born in 1992 into the Nyishi community and started writing songs at about fifteen. He writes in Nyishi, Hindi, Assamese and English. Wikipedia describes him as the first Arunachal artist to put Nyishi-language songs on streaming platforms, and the first from the state to tour nationally. He is also brand ambassador for Arunachal Pradesh's Department of Arts and Culture.
The national indie scene is mostly run out of Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. Taba Chake built a following from the far northeast by writing simple, warm songs and playing them unusually well. This guide goes through the catalogue in order. Titles, dates and tracklists come from Apple Music India, checked on 28 October 2026; biography comes from our Taba Chake artist page. We don't quote stream counts.

Bond with Nature (EP)
The earliest record on Apple, and a short one: four tracks, two of them under two and a half minutes.
- A Gentle Wind
- Morning Sun
- Ngo Akin
- A Family Get Together
It's mostly a guitar record, and the best way to hear the fingerstyle playing on its own before the songs got bigger. "Ngo Akin" carries a Nyishi title.
Bombay Dreams (2019)
His best-known songs are on the debut album. The title points at the move to Mumbai that many musicians from the region make, and at the distance between home and the place where careers get built. Ten tracks:
- In Waadiyon Mein
- Aao Chalein
- Hugulo
- My Other Side
- Shaayad
- Meri Dastaan
- No Doma Lo
- Walk With Me
- This Is The Day
- Keeping Me From Sleep Tonight
Aao Chalein
The song most listeners hear first. An open, rolling guitar part, a Hindi lyric about setting out, and a chorus that sounds sung to one person. It shows how he uses Hindi to reach a national audience without sounding like he's translating himself.
Shaayad
Released as a single in 2018, a year before the album. Quieter and more uncertain, as the title ("maybe") suggests. His guitar does the job a full band would.
Walk With Me
An English song, and the closest thing in the catalogue to pure folk-pop.
Hugulo and No Doma Lo
The two non-Hindi, non-English titles on the album. Don't skip them. Songs like these are why his place in Indian indie history is bigger than "a nice voice with a guitar".
In Waadiyon Mein
The opener. The Hindi title means "in these valleys".
The singles years (2020–2024)
Blush (2020): a light single that kept the momentum after the album.
Udd Chala (2023): a Hindi single he later re-recorded as "Udd Chala (In Nature)" in 2024.
Monot Pore (2023): an Assamese title, and a reminder that the catalogue covers more than one northeastern language.
Halfway (2023) and Kahani (2024): more singles in the storytelling mode that suits him best.
I Want To Talk (2024): his first film soundtrack, five tracks for the film I Want To Talk. "Dil Ghabraye" came out first as a single.
Khud Ko Miloon (2025)
The second album, and his longest record: thirteen tracks. The title means roughly "meet myself".
- Jee Le
- Suno Dil Ki
- Khud Ko Miloon
- Tu Hai Kahan
- Kya Ho Agar
- Interlude
- Mushkil Hai Jeena
- Jee Le (raw)
- Khud Ko Miloon (raw)
- Kya Ho Agar (raw)
- Andheron Mein
- Whispers In English
- La La Land
The structure is unusual. Three songs appear twice, once produced and once "raw", so you can hear the same song with and without the arrangement. Play "Khud Ko Miloon" and "Khud Ko Miloon (raw)" back to back: it's the clearest demonstration of how much his songs rest on voice and guitar. The title track was released as a single in August 2025, and "La La Land", the closing track, came out as a single in January 2026.
The latest release
"Ho Jayenge Ghum" (August 2026) is a collaboration with Raghav & Arjun, and the most recent release on the catalogue as of this guide. We only cover released work.
