Kryptos are a heavy metal band from Bangalore who play the classic way: twin guitars, galloping riffs, high-speed choruses and fantasy and sci-fi lyrics. They have released five studio albums on the German label AFM Records, from The Coils of Apollyon in 2012 to Decimator in 2024, which makes them one of the very few Indian metal bands with a steady international label career. This guide lists every Kryptos album on Apple Music India, in order, with track counts, dates and the songs to start with.

How we checked. All dates and track counts come from Apple Music India (iTunes catalogue, country IN), checked on 28 October 2026, at album and song level. We cover studio albums. Where songs came out first as singles, we give their dates. Only released music is covered.

The albums, in order

The Coils of Apollyon (September 2012, 9 tracks). Their first album for AFM. Apple dates it 21 September 2012 and shows a ℗ 2011 line. The songs lean dark and epic, with titles drawn from myth and fantasy: "The Mask of Anubis", the title track, "Serpent Mage", "Nexus Legion", "Eternal Crimson Spires", "Spellcraft", "Starfall", "Visions of Dis" and "The Isle of Voices". It is the record on our best Indian metal albums list. Start with: "The Coils of Apollyon".

Burn up the Night (September 2016, 8 tracks). A clear turn toward faster, brighter 1980s-style heavy metal, the sound they have kept since. "One Shot to Kill" came out first on 14 September 2016; the rest are dated 23 September: "Blackstar Horizon", "Full Throttle", "The Summoning", "Unto Elysium", "Waverider", "Prepare to Strike" and the title track. Start with: "Full Throttle".

Afterburner (June 2019, 8 tracks). Their most driving album, released with three songs in advance: "Red Dawn" (3 May 2019), the title track "Afterburner" (24 May) and "Mach Speed Running" (7 June). "Cold Blood", "Dead of Night", "On the Run", "Crimson Queen" and "Into the Wind" arrived with the album on 21 June. Start with: "Afterburner".

Force of Danger (October 2021, 8 tracks). Made and released during the pandemic years. Three singles led the way: the title track "Force of Danger" (18 June 2021), "Raging Steel" (23 July) and "Hot Wired" (27 August). The album, dated 1 October 2021, adds "Dawnbreakers", "Thunderchild", "Nighthawk", "Omega Point" and "Shadowmancer". Start with: "Raging Steel".

Decimator (July 2024, 9 tracks). Their fifth AFM album and the most recent on Apple. It was rolled out over five months: "Decimator" (23 February 2024), "Turn up the Heat" (29 March), "Electrify" (3 May) and "Sirens of Steel" (7 June). The album, dated 5 July 2024, opens with "Sirens of Steel" and also includes "Fall to the Spectre's Gaze", "Solaris", "In the Shadow of the Blade", "Pathfinder" and "We Are the Night". Start with: "Sirens of Steel".

How the sound changed

The five albums split into two phases. The Coils of Apollyon is the darker, more epic record, with longer songs and a heavier mood. From Burn up the Night onward, Kryptos settle into fast, melodic heavy metal in the tradition of the 1980s, with song titles about speed, steel and the night: "Full Throttle", "Mach Speed Running", "Hot Wired", "Electrify". Each of the last three albums was also released the same way, with three or four singles ahead of the full record, which is why Apple shows several different dates on each one.

What is not on Apple Music India

  • Their early, pre-AFM releases. Searches of Apple Music India for the band's first album do not return a listing, so we do not date it here.
  • Apple's Kryptos artist page also shows a single, "Descension", dated 2001 on another label. We could not confirm from Apple alone that it is the same band, so it is not covered.
  • Live recordings, demos and compilation appearances.

Where to start

  • One album: Afterburner.
  • The darker early sound: The Coils of Apollyon.
  • Newest: Decimator.
  • One song: "Afterburner".

Kryptos in Indian metal

Bangalore has long been one of India's main metal cities, home to festivals such as Bangalore Open Air and to many of the bands on our lists. Kryptos sit on the classic heavy metal side of that scene, rather than the death metal or djent sides. For the wider picture, see our guides to Indian metal bands and the Bengaluru indie scene. For their contemporaries in prog, see Indian progressive rock bands.
