Masala Coffee is a band founded by Varun Sunil in 2014. Its name reflects the mix of styles it plays: Indian folk, blues, pop and rock, which the band itself describes as alternative folk rock. It works mainly in Malayalam, writing original songs as well as covers, but it also performs in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi and English.

The band made its debut in 2014 on Music Mojo on Kappa TV, with its own versions of the Tamil songs Munbe Vaa and Snehithane. Wikipedia says the members did not first play together with the aim of starting a band. The response to videos from those sessions, which spread widely online, led them to make it official. Since then Masala Coffee has written and performed music for films including Uriyadi, Solo, Mundina Nildana and Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal, and released singles such as Aadiyilalo, Kaantha Reprised and Kavava. The members named in the sources are Varun Sunil, Abhijith Anilkumar, Razik Mujawar, Daya Sankar, Surya Bharadwaj, Pauly, Pranav K S and Amal Sivan.
