Indus Creed is a rock band from Mumbai that began in 1984 as Rock Machine and took its current name in 1993. The original line-up was guitarist Mahesh Tinaikar, bassist Mark Selwyn, vocalist Ian Santamaria, rhythm guitarist Aftab Currim and drummer Suresh Bhadricha. Changes came quickly: Jayesh Gandhi replaced Currim, Mark Menezes took over on drums, Uday Benegal became the lead singer, and Zubin Balaporia joined on keyboards. Tinaikar, Selwyn, Gandhi, Benegal and Balaporia remained the core of the band for most of its first run.
Rock Machine started as a covers band before turning to original material. It released Rock 'n' Roll Renegade in 1988 and The Second Coming in 1990, then a self-titled album under the Indus Creed name in 1995. The band split in 1997 and re-formed in 2010 with a new line-up, releasing Evolve in 2012. Rolling Stone India's 2014 list of the greatest Indian rock songs included two of the band's songs, Top of the Rock (1988) and Pretty Child (1990).
