Some bands sound best on record. These five are at their best in a field, a club or a packed auditorium, and their reputations have been built gig by gig.

This list covers five Indian bands that have spent 2025 and 2026 on the road, from US metal festivals to sold-out mall stages and anniversary tours.

Each entry covers why they are worth seeing live and three tracks to play before you go.

  1. Thaikkudam Bridge

    Folk-rock fusion · Kochi

Thaikkudam Bridge started as friends jamming under a bridge in Kochi and became one of India's busiest live bands, mixing rock with Kerala folk and classical music. Their 2015 song "Navarasam" went viral two years later, and guitarist Mithun Raju says it is the one song fixed in every set.

The band says it never plays the same setlist twice, and it kept touring Indian cities through 2025, from Bandland in Bengaluru to Chennai and Hyderabad. Their second album, Namah (2019), brought in guests such as Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater.

  2. Bloodywood

    Folk metal · New Delhi

Bloodywood began in New Delhi as a parody and cover project and became India's biggest metal export, built on dhol, Punjabi folk hooks and rap verses over heavy riffs. Their 2019 Wacken Open Air set put them in front of the global metal crowd.

After supporting BABYMETAL in the US in 2025 and Halestorm in Europe, they headlined a 25-city North American run in spring 2026, with stops at Sick New World, Welcome to Rockville and Sonic Temple, and played Download Festival in June. The set leans on Nu Delhi (2025) and their debut, Rakshak.

  3. When Chai Met Toast

    Folk-indie · Kochi

When Chai Met Toast are a Kerala folk-indie band of vocalist Ashwin Gopakumar, guitarist and banjo player Achyuth Jaigopal, keyboardist-producer Palee Francis and drummer Pai Sailesh. Their sing-along shows have made them regulars at festivals such as Sulafest and ShiRock.

Marking ten years as a band, they named their 2025–26 world tour Joy of Little Things after the first song they ever made, with legs planned across India, Europe, North America and Australia. They said they would play their new album, Small Town, Big Love, Little Homes, in full on the tour.

  4. Swarathma

    Folk rock · Bengaluru

Swarathma are a Bengaluru folk-rock band whose concerts are as much theatre as music. At festivals such as NH7 Weekender they have played in bright costumes and stage personas, and "Pyaar Ke Rang" came with a papier-mâché horse called Ghodi.

Formed in Mysore in 2002, they won Band, Song and Album of the Year at the 2009 Jack Daniel's Indian Rock Awards for their debut, and followed it with Topiwalleh (2012) and Raah-e-Fakira (2018). Their songs mix Hindi and Kannada with folk, blues rock and reggae.

  5. Indian Ocean

    Fusion rock · New Delhi

Indian Ocean formed in New Delhi in 1990 and built their name on stage long before streaming, setting Hindustani classical, folk and Sufi songs against rock guitar and drums. Their live album Desert Rain (1997) captured that early reputation.

In 2025 they marked 35 years with The Celebration Tour across the US, from New York and New Jersey to Boston, Detroit and the Bay Area. Long jams on songs such as "Kandisa" and "Jhini" remain the core of their shows.
