Ten months into 2026, Indian independent music has already given us a long list of full-length records and EPs worth keeping. This list sticks to records that are out now. Nothing announced, nothing teased. Every title, release date, track count and label line below comes from Apple Music India, checked on 28 October 2026. Where Apple lists a release date different from the one a press release gave, we go with Apple.

We don't rank these. They're in release order, so you can use this page as a running archive of the year. For the long view, start with our essential Indian independent albums pillar. For the bands behind the records, see Indian indie bands.

How we picked

  • Released only. Albums, mixtapes and EPs with an Apple Music India release date between 1 January and 28 October 2026.
  • Independent or artist-led. Records driven by the artists themselves, whether self-released or put out through an indie label or a major. We left out film soundtracks, compilations and "mix" playlists, even when they carry an indie artist's name.
  • New music. Reworks and deluxe reissues of older records don't count. The one exception is noted.
  • Sources. Apple Music India for facts. Platform's "Standout Indian Indie Music from 2026, So Far" (3 July 2026) and Rolling Stone India's 2026 review rundowns as cross-checks.

The records

Blackstratblues – Lullabyebye (Ambient) (17 January)

Warren Mendonsa's instrumental project opened the year with seven ambient reworkings of older Blackstratblues pieces, among them "North Star", "Anuva's Sky" and "Nights In Shining Karma". Apple carries a 2025 ℗ line but a 17 January 2026 release date. This is the one rework on the list, and it's here because it reframes a 19-year catalogue rather than repackaging it. Four months later came the main event (see Artificial Integrity below).

pho – TERMINAL 2 – EP (5 February)

A six-track EP that runs "INTRO", "HALF", "HIGHER", "YESMEN", "NASAMAJH" and "FAFO", credited and ℗ to pho. Apple dates the release to 5 February 2026, with a 2025 ℗ line. Short, self-released and on our list because the bedroom-pop end of the scene deserves a place next to the bigger launches.

Chaar Diwaari – Parvana – EP (26 February)

Platform called Parvana "his best work yet". Its guest list is what makes it stand out: Platform names Sonu Nigam, Indian Ocean, Gini and Sanjith Hegde among the collaborators. On Apple it's a six-track EP: "Banda Kaam Ka", "Iss Tarah" (released as a single with Sonu Nigam on 9 February), "Tu Kyun Na Mujhe Dekhti?", "Shamaa Interlude", "Chaand (Tu Jo Dekh Le)" and "Aashiqana". The ℗ line is Universal Music India. The record is artist-led all the same, and it reaches the furthest across genres of anything on this list.

RANJ – 27 CLUB (27 February)

The biggest record here by length: 27 tracks on Azadi Records. Platform calls it RANJ's "ambitious debut mixtape", moving between English and Tamil. You can see that bilingual spine in the tracklist, with "URUDHI MOZHIGAL", "KAIDHI", "SRI DEVI", "MADRAS CHECKS" and "VIRALI PAATTU" sitting among the English-titled R&B cuts. Some titles are explicit, and Apple marks them.

Calm Chor – Captain Clueless (13 March)

A short four-track release on Soupherb Records: the title track featuring BLVPERD, remixes by Ash Roy and Tarun Shahani, and "What Else". It's the club end of 2026. We include it because Indian electronic records rarely make "best album" lists, and our best Indian electronic albums list argues they should.

Aatma – Ehsaas (20 March)

Rolling Stone India reviewed this as the Chandigarh electronic artist's second album and gave it three stars. The review says it shows "where Indian music-inspired house music is going". Apple lists ten tracks on Lotus Lab Music. Nine were released as weekly singles from January to March, including "Mahadev" with GNDHI, "Memories" with Aashima Mahajan, "Hosh" with Faris Khan and "Mehfil 89" with Fake Tattoos. The closer, "The End of Kaliyug", arrived with the album.

Tribemama Marykali – Scorpio Moon – EP (10 April)

Five tracks, ℗ to the artist herself: "Leela", "Goldfish", "Serpent", "Painkiller", "Kill the Beast". Platform describes it as "a moving exploration of healing and rebirth", written in the wake of personal transformation. It's one of the year's most self-contained EPs.

Karan Kanchan – GLOBAL WARNING (18 April)

The Mumbai producer's eight-track record on ODD FORBID ("DURGHATNA", "TEN", "IFUSAYSO", "WOSOS", "BHAAG", "CHARCHA", "UNSTOPPABLE", "SADHANA"). An instrumental version followed on 4 May. Rolling Stone India reviewed Karan Kanchan in a 2026 review rundown. A rap-adjacent producer record that works as an album, not a beat tape.

Blackstratblues – Artificial Integrity (1 May)

Warren Mendonsa's seventh studio album: nine tracks from "Prologue" to "Living In The Future", with Ashwin Srinivasan guesting on "Sevenish". Like every Blackstratblues record, the ℗ is Warren Mendonsa's own. Our Blackstratblues albums guide places it in the full catalogue.

Bawari Basanti – Wahh – EP (23 May)

Five Hindi songs, self-released: "Woh Alag Hain Humse", "O Meri Jaan", "Seekh", "Behelayein" and "Jeene Bhi Do" with Ankit Dayal. Bawari Basanti sang on Seedhe Maut's "Pankh" back on Bayaan (2018), and Wahh is a reminder that her own catalogue is worth tracking.

JBABE – A Little Larger Than The Entire Universe (10 June)

Josh Fernandez's nine-track album came with a companion short film, according to Platform, which counts it among "Indian independent music's most talented voices". Three singles went out ahead of it on Apple: "Phantom Baby" (18 April), "Don't Call Me Your Brother" (30 April) and "Days I Will Endure" (21 May). It closes on a track called "Fela Kuti". Self-released, ℗ JBABE.

Prateek Kuhad – Full Moon Chamber (10 July)

Prateek Kuhad's third full-length album,. It has 14 tracks on Atlantic Records. It folds in album versions of the 2024 singles "No Complaints", "Just Like A Movie" and "I'm Someone New", alongside new songs like "Blush", "Oh Camille" and "Found You In May", framed by "a poetic concept", "lunar interlude" and "moonlight serenade". The full context is in our Prateek Kuhad albums guide and on his artist page.

Bharat Chauhan – Uns (21 July)

A 12-track album, self-released with a 2026 ℗ line in Bharat Chauhan's own name, per Apple Music India.

Sikander Kahlon – Karta Na Ohi Kamm (5 August)

The Punjabi rapper's 13-track 2026 album. It came after the Gods Don't Die EP with SNXRE and MXRCI (26 March). Apple lists the ℗ in Sikander Kahlon's own name, so it's an artist release, not a label compilation. For more rap, see the Seedhe Maut albums guide.

Euphoria & Palash Sen – DHOOMSDAY (19 August)

Rolling Stone India called it the band's "ninth studio album" and a "multilingual experiment" (★★★½). The guests include Shalmali, Akriti Kakar, Jyotsna Radhakrishnan and Dhanji. On Apple it runs nine tracks, from the title song to "Aapki Duaa", which RS India describes as a recreation of KK's 1999 song. The ℗ is Euphoria's own. Nearly three decades after Dhoom, it's a veteran indie-pop band still releasing albums on its own terms.

Ankur Tewari – MR. FAARIGH (20 August)

Nine tracks on Misfits Inc.: "KASAM SE", "1:15 AM (AFTER HOURS)", "AFSOS", "AASMAAN MILAY", "AAZMA LO", "ANJAANA", the title track, "BOLO NA" and "YAKEEN". His 2026 Apple catalogue also includes the Bandwaale series soundtrack (12 Feb), the single "Chand Takiye" (26 Feb), and "Daira" with Sanjeeta Bhattacharya (24 Apr). More in our Ankur Tewari songs guide.

Shashwat Bulusu – Pinocchio (21 August)

A 12-track self-released album, ℗ Shashwat Bulusu. It runs from "Burning Up" to "Daffodils/ Narcissus", with "Life and Times of Pinocchio" near the end. Apple files it under Alternative. It's one of the longest singer-songwriter records of the year.

What 2026 tells us so far

Three things stand out from the Apple data:

  1. The EP is still the format of choice for newer artists. Parvana, Scorpio Moon, TERMINAL 2 and Wahh are all five or six tracks.
  2. Weekly singles before an album are now normal. Aatma released nine of Ehsaas's ten tracks as singles first. JBABE released three.
  3. Veterans are releasing too. Blackstratblues (since 2007), Euphoria (since the late '90s) and Ankur Tewari all put out full records this year.

We'll update this page as the year closes. Records released after 28 October will be added only once Apple lists them as out.

Also checked, not listed yet

Platform's list also names Karshni Nair's BUCK WILD, Anjali Manoharan's Summer's Calling and Himanshu Chavan's Land of the Free. We couldn't match these to an Apple Music India release dated 2026, so they stay off this list until we can.
