Parekh & Singh

Parekh & Singh was a Kolkata dream-pop duo of Nischay Parekh (vocals, guitar, synths) and Jivraj Singh (drums, electronics). Both had attended La Martiniere for Boys; Parekh studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston before returning to pursue songwriting in Kolkata, while Singh grew up in a household of touring cover-band musicians.

Before the duo, Parekh fronted the experimental-pop group The Monkey In Me. As Parekh & Singh they released three studio albums—Ocean (2013), Science City (2018), and The Night is Clear (2022)—and became one of the Indian indie acts most often described as internationally signed dream-pop, with a soft-focus aesthetic that stood apart from guitar-rock Mumbai circuits.

Wikipedia describes the project in the past tense; Discography records status as inactive pending any verified reunion announcement. The Apple Music artist page (URL slug parekh-singh, id 1146494258) remains the locked sameAs for catalog enrich on Ocean-era and later releases.

For Indian indie history writing, Parekh & Singh matter as a Kolkata export with polished studio albums rather than only single-led virality. This page keeps members listed, sources cited, and no cover upload in Wave 1.

Single-select tagging applies: credit parekh-and-singh when the duo is the subject. Individual member solo work should use separate facets if created later—do not collapse Nischay Parekh solo rows into this band slug without an explicit product decision.

Kolkata’s indie export story in the 2010s included acts that sounded closer to international dream pop than to domestic rock bar circuits; Parekh & Singh’s three-album run is the clearest encyclopedia-documented example. Berklee time for Parekh and a musician household for Singh explain the polished studio finish listeners heard on Ocean through The Night is Clear. Past-tense encyclopedia status informs the inactive facet flag. Apple id 1146494258 remains the enrich target even if the duo is dormant. Members are listed as past until a verified reunion source appears.
